I think I’ll dub this the year of the Kraft Paper. I swear I saw it on all my favourite blogs and websites — and I love it! We wrapped all our gifts in Kraft Paper this year and personalized them with ribbon and wax crayons. Sticking to the paper theme, I wanted to put together some treats for some of my favourite colleagues at work this year. I originally had this idea to do a miniature Kringel Bread for everyone, but with all the dough rising and baking, it just seemed like a lot of work. Plus, Kringel Bread is best straight out of the oven and I’m sure the little loaves would have been stale by the time my friends at work dug in. Instead, I went the more traditional route and spent the last few weeks scouring the web for interesting cookie recipes.
What I came up with was little brown lunch bags, decorated with wax paper and twine. In them, I put a little collection of cookies–my favourite being the rosemary + salted caramel Linzer cookie from Two Red Bowls. That recipe is AMAZING. I also made some white chocolate peppermint cookies (they were also good) and used the last of my friend Rose’s sugar cookie dough for a little extra filling. Go figure that most of the comments I got back were that the sugar cookies were delicious (thanks Rose!). If you’re up for a little baking project, I highly recommend those Linzer cookies, they were so fun to make and the cookies were the best.
